It has also amazing forms, layers, and shapes. Its name comes from its occurrence and development at the Achates in Italy, especially in the River in southwestern Sicily. It can also exist in the United States, Uruguay, and Brazil.
A brownish-red mineral known as carnelian is frequently used as a semi-precious gemstone. It is a type of chalcedony, a cryptocrystalline quartz mineral, that is orange-red. Also, it belongs to the family of chalcedonies. Plus, it is translucent to the opaque form of quartz that typically comes in hues of red, orange, brown, and pink. Depending on the mineral composition, carnelian can range in color from light orange to an intense almost-black coloring. Carnelian is commonly used for healing and in jewelry.
